Purpose of the Role

The Value Chain Lead is the strategic and operational owner of a specific commodity vertical. Reporting to the Commercial Director, this role is tasked with "building the bridge" between production clusters and high-value off-takers.

You are responsible for the P&L of your specific value chain, overseeing everything from field-level aggregation and quality assurance to the commercial fulfillment of bulk contracts. This role requires a unique blend of "boots-on-the-ground" agricultural knowledge and sophisticated commercial negotiation skills.

Key Responsibilities

Value Chain Strategy & P&L Ownership

· Develop and execute the annual "Go-to-Market" strategy for the assigned commodity (e.g., Grains, Horticulture, or Livestock).

· Own the vertical’s P&L, managing margins, aggregation costs, and ensuring the commercial viability of all trade contracts within that chain.

Aggregation & Origin Management

· Identify and map high-yield production clusters and farmer cooperatives.

· Lead the field teams in aggregating commodities at scale, ensuring that the Bulk Food Company becomes the "Off-taker of Choice" for rural producers.

· Implement loyalty programs and "Farm-to-Hub" logistics that ensure steady, year-round supply.

Quality Assurance & Standardization

· Enforce strict quality protocols (ISO/HACCP) at the point of aggregation to ensure all produce meets international and institutional standards.

· Collaborate with the Logistics team to minimize post-harvest losses through specialized handling and storage techniques unique to the commodity vertical.

Commercial Fulfillment & Off-take

· Serve as the primary account manager for Tier-1 institutional buyers (FMCGs, Exporters, and State Reserves) specific to your value chain.

· Ensure 100% fulfillment of off-take contracts, managing delivery schedules and quality specifications.

Digital Orchestration & Data Utilization

· Utilize the proprietary digital platform to track every kilogram of produce from the farm-gate to the central hub.

· Provide real-time data on crop yields, harvest timings, and market pricing to inform the company’s broader trade strategy.

Qualifications & Certificates

Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, or a related science/business field.

An MBA or Master’s in Agribusiness or International Trade is highly preferred.

Member — Chartered Institute of Supply Chain Management (CISCM) or equivalent

Agribusiness / Food Systems certification from international institutions (e.g. IFAD, FAO, WFP programmes) — added advantage

Experience Required

· 12 years of experience in Agribusiness, Commodity Trading, or Food Supply Chain Management.

· Deep understanding of Nigerian and African agricultural value chains and global commodity market dynamics.

· An existing, active network of farmer cooperatives, aggregators, and institutional buyers in Nigeria.

· Strong understanding of Quality Standards (HACCP, ISO) and export documentation.

· Absolute transparency in contract management and stakeholder dealings.
