The Role

The Facility & Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day maintenance, operation, and preservation of LAFSINCO's physical assets and infrastructure. Reporting to the Head, Properties & Real Estate, the successful candidate will ensure that all buildings, utilities, mechanical and electrical systems, equipment, and common areas are maintained in optimal operating condition.

The role requires a proactive, hands-on professional who can coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance programmes, supervise contractors and maintenance personnel, enforce health and safety standards, and ensure maximum asset reliability while minimizing operational downtime.

The Facility & Maintenance Supervisor will play a critical role in protecting LAFSINCO's infrastructure investments and ensuring that the Lagos Central Food Security Systems & Logistics Hub operates efficiently, safely, and sustainably.

Key Responsibilities

Facility Operations

Supervise the daily operation and maintenance of all company buildings, warehouses, offices, cold storage facilities, processing plants, roads, parking areas, drainage systems, and common areas.
Conduct routine inspections to ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and aesthetically maintained.
Monitor facility performance and recommend improvements to optimize operational efficiency.
Ensure uninterrupted operation of essential building services and utilities.

Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all facilities and infrastructure.
Coordinate timely repairs of buildings, equipment, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, and mechanical systems.
Monitor equipment performance and minimize downtime through proactive maintenance.
Maintain comprehensive maintenance records and asset history.

Utilities & Infrastructure Management

Supervise the operation and maintenance of generators, transformers, water treatment systems, pumps, refrigeration systems, elevators, firefighting equipment, and utility networks.
Monitor utility consumption and recommend cost-saving initiatives.
Ensure continuous availability of electricity, water supply, and other essential services.
Coordinate infrastructure upgrades and rehabilitation projects.

Contractor & Vendor Management

Supervise maintenance contractors, technicians, service providers, and external vendors.
Monitor contractor performance against agreed service levels.
Verify completed work before approval for payment.
Ensure contractors comply with company policies and safety standards.

Health, Safety & Compliance

Ensure all facilities comply with health, safety, environmental, and statutory regulations.
Conduct routine safety inspections and facility risk assessments.
Support emergency preparedness and business continuity initiatives.
Ensure compliance with fire safety, environmental protection, and occupational safety requirements.

Asset Management

Maintain an up-to-date asset register for all facilities and maintenance equipment.
Monitor asset condition and lifecycle replacement requirements.
Recommend refurbishment or replacement of obsolete infrastructure.
Support capital planning for facility improvement projects.

Budget & Cost Control

Assist in preparing annual maintenance budgets.
Monitor maintenance expenditure against approved budgets.
Identify opportunities to reduce maintenance costs without compromising service quality.
Ensure efficient utilization of maintenance resources and materials.

Reporting & Documentation

Prepare weekly and monthly maintenance performance reports.
Maintain maintenance schedules, inspection reports, contractor records, and compliance documentation.
Report critical facility issues promptly to management.
Track maintenance KPIs and recommend continuous improvements.

Team Leadership

Supervise maintenance technicians, artisans, cleaners, and facility support personnel.
Allocate work assignments and monitor productivity.
Coach team members on maintenance standards, safety procedures, and operational excellence.
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Qualification & Skills

· Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Building Technology, Estate Management, Facilities Management, or a related discipline.

· Professional certifications in Facilities Management (IFMA, BIFM, FMAN, or equivalent) will be an added advantage.

· Minimum of 7–10 years relevant experience in facilities management, building maintenance, industrial maintenance, or infrastructure management.

· At least 3 years in a supervisory role overseeing maintenance operations.

· Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical installations, plumbing, generators, refrigeration systems, firefighting systems, and building maintenance.

· Experience managing contractors and outsourced maintenance service providers.

· Good understanding of preventive maintenance systems and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

· Knowledge of Nigerian health, safety, environmental, and building regulations.

· Strong problem-solving, planning, organizational, and leadership skills.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and maintenance management software.
